we were caffeinated and ready to go see some ice castles in the middle of new hampshire, but halfway there we realized it was sold out and plan b, the ben & jerry’s factory, was two hours too far. so we drove through vermont’s backroads as i counted bernie signs and alex searched for real ice sculptures. we stumbled upon a goldmine of cheddar cheese and maple syrup samples and pulled over when we found a beautiful backdrop. our fingers burned until we couldn’t feel them and tears rolled in the wind, but it was worth it because now i know that alex is a perfect model.
